Achieving Greatness: Taking the Limits Off

When is the last time you went out on a limb? I mean completely giving in and taking a risk not knowing what the outcome would be? If you’re still thinking about an answer, then I can assure you that you’re not alone. We have a tendency to play things safe. And while many may argue that this is a sure way to get decent results, I’m beginning to explore the other option. The option that relies solely on faith. It’s hard to believe that I find myself in certain predicaments at times, knowing the God that I serve. But maybe that’s the problem… we probably don’t know God the way we claim we do. Uh oh, am I stepping on any toes yet??

You see the thing is–we serve a God who gives us unlimited grace, favor and blessings. There is absolutely NOTHING he can’t do for us. Yet, we walk around preaching this to everyone we meet, but not applying it to our very own lives. I’m just as guilty of this as you are, so I understand the struggle that comes with living out what we actually claim to believe.

I remember back in high school when I only used to aspire to “get by.” I would only work hard enough to simply pass each class. I would constantly hear from my teachers that I had the “potential to do more.” Nonetheless, I never pushed myself to get to that level. Looking back now I realize that I was limiting myself greatly. I’m sure we can all agree that at some point in time, if we had only taken things a bit more seriously, we would have been further along by now. And yes, I know that everything works together for good and everything happens for a reason, but I don’t believe God intended for us to endure so many trials.

There are so many ways in which we limit God, ultimately holding us back from achieving greatness. We limit him in our thinking with doubt and disbelief. We also limit him through unforgiveness which closes our hearts. In order to get to the next level in our lives, we must first remove these limitations and recognize that God is able to do ALL things at ALL times. At no time should you be afraid to approach God in prayer letting him into the corners of your heart and thoughts. Don’t only pray for things that we believe we can attain, but seek God for things that you can’t even fathom. It’s at this point that our faith takes center stage and we can experience the miraculous power of God as he changes our lives for the better.

If we continue to live our lives in fear and doubt, we will never attain greatness in it’s truest form. We will always live a mediocre life searching for something extraordinary. The secret is simple:

Stop searching and start believing. Everything you want is already within reach.
